A Clash of Civilizations?
We do not believe there is a Clash of Civilizations.
It is such a clever expression, but so simplistic, so na•ve. How superficial it is for an academic to cover the whole world in one single catchphrase, one single, sexy theory. The phrase was actually coined by a Harvard professor who ought to know better, except that what Samuel P. Huntingdon does best - his greatest skill - is coining the clever catch phrase!
We believe this is more than a clever expression. It is political propaganda that does America and its allies great harm. Professor Huntingdon's concept is deeply flawed, his use of the word "civilization" is quite wrong, and the overall impression is that the author of the catchphrase is deliberately using a smokescreen of pseudo-academic research to push a political agenda. The slogan "clash of civilizations" encourages people to dislike the United States of America, and provides an excuse the so-called War on Terror which is actually stimulating more (and not less) terrorism.
